Imagine an island where more than 300 species of birds and 22 species of whales and dolphins make their home. Imagine a place where the oldest lighthouse has stood for 16 decades. Rich with history, rife with culture and sprawling with natural beauty. These wonders have been here for thousands of years. Newfoundlanders call their homeland “The Rock”—a good name for this craggy stone. Here you will find rare geological phenomena, icebergs drifting past on a summer day, fjords with walls so steep you’d swear you were in Norway, and a language so different that it has its own dictionary. Where else in North America can you stand on the shore and see France? Come with us to explore this mysterious land. Come with us to Newfoundland – craggy coastlines, timeless villages…amidst unspoiled nature.
